ABOUT ELEMENTS OF EQUITY
Elements of Equity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, powered by our corporate partner, Still Labs LLC, designed to foster diversity, inclusion, and equitable opportunities for underrepresented students pursuing careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Our mission is to create a supportive and empowering environment for these students, enabling them to thrive and contribute to the advancement of society through their work in STEM fields. -- All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
OUR PROGRAMS
Equity Scholars Program
A scholarship initiative designed to provide financial support to underrepresented students pursuing STEM education. This program targets students who demonstrate intelligence, potential, and grit, even if they don’t have the highest GPAs, helping them overcome financial barriers to access higher education and lab-based training opportunities.
STEM Pathways Internship
A paid internship program that connects underrepresented students with businesses and labs to gain hands-on experience in essential STEM skills. Interns work on real-world projects under the guidance of mentors, building practical lab expertise and professional networks.

Inclusive Research Fellowship
A paid research position program that places underrepresented students in cutting-edge STEM labs to conduct impactful research projects. Fellows receive training in lab techniques and research methodologies, focusing on high-demand areas like biotechnology, while contributing to scientific innovation.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Elements of Equity, an initiative by Still-Labs LLC, aims to foster diversity and inclusion in STEM by providing underappreciated students with internships and paid research positions. The program targets talented individuals who may lack high GPAs and lab experience but are passionate and have strong potential. By partnering with businesses, Elements of Equity provides practical lab training, bridging the gap between talent and opportunity and helping these students become competitive for graduate education and leadership roles in R&D, ultimately contributing to a more diverse and innovative workforce.

Research Intern at Still Labs
Edwin Santana
Edwin Omar Chavez Santana, a 2024 Biochemistry graduate from CSU Dominguez Hills, is our intern with a passion for science and the ocean. Originally from Mexico, he's been researching marine sponge secondary metabolites under Dr. Erin McCauley. Edwin is now aiding in product development for a tea company and working on a patent application for an extraction process at Still Labs, all while enjoying hobbies like scuba diving and photography.

Director of Elements of Equity
Erin McCauley
Erin McCauley, the director of Elements of Equity, is a professor at CSU Dominguez Hills with a passion for advancing STEM education. As the director of undergraduate research at CSUDH, she has experience heading initiatives that provide opportunities to student researchers.
McCauley served as research advisor for both Jason and Edwin and is currently overseeing the development of new initiatives at EoE, ensuring they align with the mission to foster diversity and inclusion in STEM.
Founder
Jason Williams
Jason is the Founder of Still Labs and Elements of Equity and is a PhD candidate in Chemistry at UCLA. After graduating from a continuation school, Jason didn’t see college as an option and joined the Marine Corps. Three days after leaving the military, he enrolled in college. After 14 years and numerous attempts, he eventually earned his degree from CSUDH in 2021. He never imagined he could be a scientist and was deeply touched by mentors who went out of their way to show him otherwise. Now, through Elements of Equity, he’s committed to doing the same for others.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
